The Basics of Coffee Roasting
Kontext Coffee Club
Interested in this class? Email us to set up a bespoke session: hello(a)kontextcoffee.com Join us for our 'Kontext Coffee Club' - a series of action-packed learning experiences revolving around 'all things coffee'. In this Coffee Club session we will look at the basics of coffee roasting for those of you who are roasting at home already or are thinking about getting into it. We will talk about the physical and chemical changes the coffee goes through during the roasting process, as well as the most important parameters to control during the roast in order to influence your outcome. We will do a few roasts together and taste-compare different roast degrees of the same coffee ('light' - 'medium' - 'dark'). This session will be a 2.5-3hr session. Roasting experience is not a pre-requisite to be able to follow the class. There will be an opportunity to purchase limited quantities of the green coffee we will work with on the day. If you have your own home roaster and would like to to really get into it with your own machine, you are welcome to let us know the make and model and bring it on the day so we can tailor the session to your specific needs.
